Because of this massive repercution, nominated celebrities must look impeccable, absolutely perfect. They get into weeks of hunger and sacrifice and they even resort to last-minute liposuctions and botox injections. Their nails, their hair, their faces have to look awesome from every single point of view.
The way they look on the red carpet is determinant to their careers, so they are able to do whatever. However, this "whatever" has been considered by many celebrities as a real torture.
