Dear family,

How are you? I’m very well here in Catalonia, people are very kind and the food is different but good. The weather is hotter than in Shanghai, but there’s less pollution.

The most different thing between Spain in general and China I think that is the school system. Here, teachers are less strict. They don’t study the same hours than us, but I think, that their quality of life is better than in our county. Another big different point is that here, the government doesn’t invest much money at the schools. In China we don’t have to pay for some things we use, but here they have to pay for.

However, in Spain all the people can study and get a gob although they have gotten low marks in the school.

In summer I’m going to return home, I want to see you. I hope that you too.

Dear sister, 

How are you? I hope you feel good. How are you doing at school? I'm okey, but it is very different if you compare with China. However, I love this country the weather is perfect, and I have a lot of friends, all of them so lovely. But, I miss you so much.

Sincerely, the study system is wrong. The economic situation in Catalonia affects the educational system, and this affects all the students, because the school is of poor quality. The country is very beautiful but, I think that in this country people are not being educated. The studens go to school to pass the time. Sister I think that I waste the time and the money in this school.

The people aren’t conscious of the situation that crosses Spain.

In addition, the big majority of people only think at the party and the minimum effort, the qualification isn’t matter. The future in this country is dark and only some students think in the studies and know that without studies just as the situation you are nothing outside your country.

I don’t know sister, I would like to come again but I haven’t decided yet.

How are you and your family? I hope all of them are fine! Until last three months when you visited us I have been asking my fathers if you can pass a few days in Tremp. They would really like you to come next weekend because (*) is Sant Joan, it is a festival where childs set fireworks in the street the hole day and the town is very colorfull! But the best part, at night my family make a dinner in the street with all the people living there and there are fires for all the town where you can throw things (your school books for example)! After dinner there's a ball in the sportscentre with very good music. Would you like to come? I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Dear Mike,

I'm having a great time here because (*) is Carnival of flowers in Medellin. Carnival of flowers is very famous around South America. In this carnival (the) people can joins (to) the ride of horses who involves this wonderful city.

This festival brings to the city a lot of days for the sole purpose of filling it with joy and great feelings. the main attractions of this carnival is the procession of vintage cars, the ride of horses and finally the parade of "silleteros" (*) are (*) people who carry on their backs (calls) "silletas" (*) are beautiful compositions made from flowers of any kind. In Colombia abound major types of flowers and thus (*)  is an important exporter.

In my family this carnival represents that the family gathers to celebrate with special affect.

All of this festivities takes place on August and this shows the softer side of a spectacular city and his people, those who are full of life in the so-called city of eternal spring.

Why don't you visit Medellin? The only risk is you want to stay.

Dear Annie,

I got very excited about hearing news from you! In your letter you asked me what is my favourite festival. Well, I love Christmas! For me is a very special occasion, because I meet all my family.

Provably the day I like the most is Christmas Eve! That day I help my mother cleaning the house and cooking, we sometimes prepare seafood and some great salads. In the afternoon comes Santa Claus to our village so I always bring my cousin to see him, and we take a photo with Santa! Then I come back home and I set the table before my family arrives. When we are all together it’s “tió’s time”. Tió is a Catalan tradition, the children have to hit a log called Tió or Tronca while they are singing a song, then appear some presents for the children and the family. Usually the presents are socks, chocolate and nougat. Finally we have dinner and sometimes we watch a comedy film.

I hope you one day you can join in that celebration, you must try to hit the tió it’s very funny! I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

How are you? I hope you’re fine and happy! Have you read the novel “A Cash of Kings”? It’s a good novel and the end is amazing.  The author, George R. R. Martin, plays with the character with a wonderful way.

Thanks for your e-mail. I liked the e-mail that you had sent me from Canada, when I saw it I was very jealous because I love the snow sports and my dream is go to Canada and descend a snow mountain.  In the email, you asked me about my summer holidays. In July I went to France (the Alps) to finish my skiing course. In August I went to the Torredembarra’s beach and I stayed there for two weeks. The week before beginning school, I went to a party in Josep country house and had a great time.

This summer was fun but school had begun.

Had had good summer!!

 You're probably asking what is the MaximaFM? and that is the festival?

 so is very simple Maxima fm is a radio that emits electronic music and obvious  the music festival will treat a type of concert and music that will be electronic, especially dance, 

house , as in the party as with a difference that will be to air free .

So the plan that I propose you is that in the morning we make a bit of tourism for barcelona and in the evening be going to take something with the friends and in the night to go to the festival that will be amazing.

Personally im my opinion of this festival is that you spend it to yourself very well, you dance, know to people i am sure that you will want to turn it to repeating.

Dear Lola,

How are you? And your family? I was so happy when I received your news! Since you've left Pobla I haven't known anything about you. I hope that you are fine and I want (*)propose something to you!

As you know, every summer I go to Vigo, the place where my mum was born and I thought that, if you want of course, you can go with me this summer! It would be very exciting!

We could stay there for three weeks. There in summer, like here, there are the popular parties of every village, so we can go with my cousins! In each village there are different kinds of celebrations but all of they have something in common, and it’s that at the end of the last day an important and huge orchestra come and they offer an amazing spectacular. And something better is that there are a lot of orchestras. In Galicia (*)are very popular that orchestras of this category come into the villages.

But, of course, we wouldn’t only see orchestras and parties, probably we visit the beautiful cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and we could take some photos in front of it. We also see all the people who do the pilgrimage. They can do it because of in some places of the different ways to arrive to the cathedral there are the Santiago’s shells, so it’s easier for they to find the correct way. We will go to the Vigo’s beach, Smil too. Above all, we can go to Ourense where there are the public hot springs called “A chavasqueira” but if you prefer we can go to the private hot springs that are next to the public hot springs. I stayed there the last summer and they are wonderful and so relaxants. You will love it!

Well, I hope that you say yes to my invitation!

I've never been there but i heart that the eiffel tower's seen is incredible and other people told me that the louvre museum is a great syte. The last week, I was at my holidays with my parents, my sister and I at South Africa, we had a great time there but I finished exhausted every day because we did a lot of things like sailing in a pirate ship and we have moved of all around the country watching lots of interesting sites.

Yesterday I thought that at Friday of the next week is my birthday and I like to invite you and all of the people of the classroom. You know my birthday is the 5th of October and this year I’m going to do sixteen years old, It isn’t necessary that you give me a present.
Can you make me a favor?: Can you say to the classroom that I’ll invite them to have lunch at a restaurant? This weekend we will return to Claverol and I’ll ask them if he or she are going to come to have dinner.

Dear Rose,

The Next  17th of June I want to invite you to my house because there’s a special day in my town : the feast of Ribera’s virgin.  Is a typical and traditional feast of my town that it does  from more than hundred years.

The feast is celebrated  on 17th of June. It start's when the men dress up with the typical clothes,  they take as  the torches and after,  they climb up the mountain of Santa Magdalena. In the seame time, all the women dress up with the typical clothes of Cataluña too. ( I've attached a little photo in the back of the letter!). Then, in the evening when the men run out of dinner, they begin to *) down the mountain. When they arrive  at the town with the torches, all the “pubilles”( The women) give them some muscat.

Every year I've participated in this feast and I like  so much.  It’s very exiting and beautiful to see, because you’ll  see a combination of the fire  of the torches and the elegant of the typical dress. I think that would you like!

I hope that you can came here for see this special feast for me . Looking forward to hearing about you!

Dear Laia,

I was wondering if you'd like to join my family and I attending the annual feast in my dad's village, Frailes, in Jaén. It's usually on the first weekend of August and everybody in the town and outskirts join in the celebration during four days. 

Frailes fair is lots of years old and year in year out the number of attendees increases. And this is a good indicator, don't you think? I mean, it's nice to see how people live it. I can assure how amazing it is. 

During those four days, there are lots of shows, there are "chiringuitos" with that typical "tapas", games for kids, fireworks, etc. And this year, they've organized a kind of Olympic Games, in which the sports are lots of traditional games! One of those days, there is a popular cycling tour all around the village. You'll see, they participate the youngest to the oldest! 

Oh, I almost forget my favorite event! The day that all the men and women dress up as "cordobeses" and "sevillanas". I get fascinated with that glamorous dresses and with how well they dance sevillanas. Of course, I've got my dress and I look forward all the year to that day. 

At nights, and I know this will finish convincing you to join us, there are different music groups all along the night, disco's and attractions. 

So, how can you resist? Why don't you finally convince your parents to come with us? 

I want you to come with me and spend the best summer together. 

Can't wait to hear from you! Believe me, you'll like to repeat!

Dear Marta,

Next 30^th  October I want to invite you to my house. You will see, on that day there’s a special party in my village because it’s Halloween time. You will know that Halloween is a typical tradition of England, not of Catalonia, but while it’s a very international festival we have done an adaptation of it here too.

It will be wonderful if you join in the party with us. Those are the night plans:

First of all we always meet together at 7:00 pm in my house to leave your suitcases and your bags.

As me and my brother Joan loves cooking we usually make a big cake, crêpes and popcorns because at 8:30pm we all fling on the big sofas to watch a horror film.

Last year we watched “Drug me to hell” and we shouted a lot because all of us got very scared!

Then, when the film finishes we often eat pizza for dinner and we go out to the sports centre because there’s a concert full of young people! We enjoy music and everybody dances a lot! It’s the funniest moment of the night!

At the end, when we get tired we decide to come back home to sleep, but we never sleep. We stay talking until very late! Next morning anybody can’t wake up!

Why don’t you think in to join us next month? If you come, it will be the best Halloween of my life! You’d love it so much.

What's up? I hope I can see you soon. How are things with you? Everything alright with your family?

Thanks for your letter. I've been very busy with the exams, so I couldn't anwser you before.

You asked me about how many parties I've gone this summer. I've gone to many parties, but which I have enjoyed the most it have been St Joan. That event is held every 23 of June, by the night, at the "Països Catalans".

People throws some old woods that they don't use, and they make a little mountain of wood. Then, by the night, this mountain of wood burns (obviously under the control of firemans) and it makes a big bonfire.

Also, young people buy some firecrackers and fireworks and they throw it by the village. It's so espectacular and funny, although sometimes there is some yobs.

Is there in the UK a similar party? I hope you come here the next summer and you can see it. You will like it.
