WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SCHOOL UNIFORMS?

Schools’ dress codes are very different, every school has its own rules but generally we can separate them in two groups; schools that require wearing (*) uniform and schools that don’t. That has always been a discussion topic, people argue against or in favor (*) schools uniform, if they help the student or if they don’t. Actually, we are arguing about showing or hiding our personality, about being unique or the same.

I have never worn a uniform at school.  From my point of view, that is good for students because, as many people say, clothes are a way to show who we are, our interests and what we want to be. What is more, our style shows an important part of ourselves, and makes us original and different from the others.  I believe that no one shouldn’t be afraid of showing its personality, and school uniforms don’t allow us to show it and make us hide a part of it.

On the other hand, school uniforms equalize people. If all the students are dressed alike nobody sees differences between them. Moreover, everybody is equal, no matter the economic situation of the student or where is he from. So, school uniforms are a good way to stop differences and discrimination in the schools, even if they can’t avoid bullying (*) they reduce it.

To conclude, I just want to say that I think that school uniforms could be really useful. However, I still want to wear different clothes at school, because, as I said before they show who I am and make me different from the others, also they make me feel more comfortable and confident.
