‘Net piracy is killing the music industry’

The net piracy has always been a huge problem for the record companies. If people download music from the internet without paying anything, it will do that those companies lose money and the industry in general. However, I don’t think that the net piracy is killing the music industry.

On the one hand, I think that downloading music from the net is a serious problem, even it is better because in that way people will share and find new music, the artist will be more known thanks of the thousands of people who can talk about them at the same time. So, the net piracy could be a great publicity for all of those performers. Another fact is that the record companies or the singers have lots of different ways to earn money, for example by selling t-shirts, going on tours...and nowadays there are people who still buying CD’s. Consequently, the fact that people download or listen to music from the internet it is not a trouble for the industry of the music.

On the other hand, there are some people who think against. It is said that the music industry is losing money because of the net piracy. They want that the fans buy CD’s and they don’t get free music. In addition, they said that the musicians aren’t getting paid for their songs and that people enjoy of those songs for free. I don’t think so because as I said before, musicians can earn money equally and my opinion is that musicians produce music because they love it and they want to share their talent with the fans. What is more, a musician won’t be anybody without people who listen to him.

Although record companies think that the net piracy is killing the music industry, I think against. If there weren’t people who share music for free on the net, lots of musicians wouldn’t be currently known.
